The first infant conceived using the Maternal Spindle Transfer method for Fertility Treatment, administered by the Institute of Life and Embryotools, has been discharged from maternity hospital

The first baby in the world born via the innovative Maternal Spindle Transfer method for fertility treatment was discharged from the IASO Maternity Hospital in Athens, filling the parents and the scientific staff of the Institute of Life IVF Center and Embryotools with a sense of hope and accomplishment.

The 2.960-kilo boy was born on 9 April 2019, to a 32-year-old Greek woman with a history of multiple IVF failures and poor oocyte quality.

“For me, this child’s birth is a miracle. After multiple IVF failures and many difficulties, today I am holding my child in my arms. My own child! With all my heart, I want to thank the scientific and medical team at the Institute of Life IVF Center and Embryotools, who achieved the virtually impossible, giving me this child. I hope that all women having difficulties becoming mothers believe there is hope. In their endeavor, they need only have the support of scientists who have the knowledge, expertise and dedication to make their dream a reality. No woman should be deprived of the right to have a child with her own genetic material,” the mother said.
