Microbiological and Biochemical Analysis

Microbiological analysis is recommended when there is a history of inflammation or indication such as strong smell, high number of round cells, increased viscosity and low motility. The presence of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria, ureaplasma, mycoplasma and chlamydia is also checked. This detection leads to their immediate treatment.

Biochemical analysis also measures the levels of fructose, acid phosphatase and alpha-glucosidase in semen. It checks for possible defects in male reproductive tract glands (seminal vesicles, prostate, epididymis), which may negatively affect the image of the semen. Especially in cases of azoospermia, glandular testing is necessary for identifying the type of azoospermia (obstructive / non-obstructive).
